Job Title Director of Center for Excellence in Teaching and Learning Posting Number 341-2011 Job Description Summary

This position is responsible for directing the college’s learning management system and instructional technology functions

Essential Duties

Oversees the development and monitoring of instructional support for faculty and staff (25%)
• Designs, develops and evaluates instruction
• Assists in the redesign of courses
• Provides access to print, electronic and other resources about teaching
• Organizes campus collaborations through faculty learning communities

Oversees the daily operations for the Georgia View learning management system and the college’s instructional technology (30%)
• Works with vendors for instructional technology products; communicates with vendor representatives to determine future technology needs
• Maintains the ePortfolio system for faculty promotion and tenure processes
• Troubleshoots the learning management system to resolve problems
• Maintains check-out system for instructional technology equipment

Provides support to faculty and staff (30%)
• Responds to inquiries from faculty and staff about issues relating to GeorgiaView and instructional technology
• Works with faculty to develop online and hybrid courses
• Develops and presents faculty and staff training
• Monitors faculty technology needs through interviews, conversations, and surveys
• Assists faculty in the use of devices, technologies, programs, or software
• Provides support for the School of Education
• Serves on Faculty Resource Committee

Performs faculty duties (10%)
• Develops and teaches undergraduate courses in areas of expertise
• Conducts researches and presents or publishes results

Performs a variety of related duties (5%)
• Manages the computer lab; maintains the reservation system; runs updates; installs programs; locks and unlocks doors
• Completes continuing education and training

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES AND/OR COMPETENCIES REQUIRED BY THE POSITION
• Knowledge of learning management system administration principles
• Knowledge of accessibility compliance
• Knowledge of online learning and web-based applications
• Knowledge of higher education integrations used in higher education
• Knowledge of the operation and maintenance of a variety of peripheral devices
• Knowledge of SMARTBoard an ACTIVBoard technologies
• Knowledge of Information Technology security principles
• Skill in decision making and problem solving
• Skill in interpersonal relations and in dealing with the public
• Skill in oral and written communication
• Skill in troubleshooting and resolving problems

Minimum Qualifications

• Master’s degree in a course of study related to the occupational field.
• Related experience required

Preferred Qualifications Physical Demands

• The work is typically performed while sitting at a desk or table or while intermittently sitting, standing, walking, or stooping. The employee occasionally lifts light objects
• The work is typically performed in an office

Special Instructions to Applicants

Salary range $53,800 – $55,000
