Who We Are
Williamsburg Campus Child Care (WCCC) is an independent 501c3 located on the campus of William & Mary in Williamsburg, Virginia. Since 1992 it has operated out of the Sarah Ives Gore Child Care Center. WCCC actively participates in the Virginia Quality Program and is licensed by the Commonwealth of Virginia and participates in US Department of Agriculture’s Child and Adult Care Food Program.

Assignment
WCCC is seeking an engaging, dynamic individual to serve as a full-time, year-round Assistant Director. Typical shift hours will be Monday through Friday 9:30am till close.

The Assistant Director will be employed by Williamsburg Campus Child Care (WCCC), an independent 501©(3) organization, not the College of William & Mary. Employees of WCCC are not eligible for benefits offered by the College of William and Mary.

●Assist the Center Director in operating the center in accordance with WCCC policies and procedures, Virginia Quality best practices, and state licensing standards to provide an educational, nurturing, and safe environment for children, parents, and staff.
●Assist the Center Director in other aspects of operations, including human resources, staff development, quality assurance, customer relations, and financial management.
●Ability to perform all of the essential functions for each position in the school, including, but not limited to, other leadership team positions and teachers.
●Assist with daily meal times including food preparation, serving and other housekeeping responsibilities related to food service.
●Work with center director, parents, and teachers to create individual curriculum procedures to meet the needs of the individual child with concerns for their interests, disabilities, temperament, special talents, cultural backgrounds, and learning styles.
●Assist in maintaining all center records in accordance with policies and procedures in an accurate and timely manner.
●Assumes all director responsibilities and duties in the absence of the Center Director.
●Nurture your career aspirations and personal growth through ongoing training and support to include no less than 40 hours of training annually.
●Share opening/closing responsibilities with the director.
●Assist in the recruiting, selection, and training of qualified employees to include the planning and leadership of staff meetings, training sessions, and planning sessions.
●Develop and maintain strong relationships with our families.
●Help plan and facilitate family and community outreach activities.
●Communicate with families regarding activities, enrollment, schedules and policies.
●Respond and follow up on enrollment inquiries and conduct tours for prospective parents and assist with the implementation of local marketing plans to drive enrollment.
●Maintain inventories and order supplies.
●Identify and report all facility and maintenance issues.

Required Qualifications

●Bachelor’s Degree in Early Childhood Education, Child Development, Elementary Education, Psychology, or child related field from an accredited college or university.
●2+ years of direct professional experience in a licensed child day program.
●Current infant/child CPR and First Aid certification (or must be obtained prior to hire)
●Must clear full background check with the Commonwealth of Virginia.
●Ability to lift up to 35 lbs. in connection with the handling of children for the facilitation of programs, child safety, and potential emergency situations. Including the ability to sit, stand, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl to attend to children’s needs.
●Must submit documentation of a negative tuberculosis screening prior to hire.
●Strong oral and written communication skills.
●Proficient in Google Docs and Microsoft Office Suite.
●Excellent leadership, organizational, and interpersonal skills.
●An understanding of early childhood growth and development, as well as the ability to apply this understanding to appropriate activities.
●The ability to instruct adults and model appropriate interactions between children and their families.
●A general knowledge of nutrition, health, and CACFP guidelines.
●Must be ServeSafe Certified (or able to successfully obtain)
●Must have certification in Medication Administration Training (MAT) (or able to successfully obtain)

Supervision:
The Assistant Director is supervised by the Center Director and assists with the supervision of teachers, assistant teachers, student employees, and assigned practicum students.
