Description:

The Development Analysis Specialist will generate new ways of thinking about information technology and performance data-driven projects that result in growth opportunities and competitive advantages in the art and design educational marketplace. You will generate and develop ideas that are consistent with the vision for Pratt by directing and collaborating with other administrators and faculty on the genesis of new product concepts for all of the IT units. In line with advanced knowledge of the consumer, business, and performance requirements of the institute, you'll develop concrete insights which feed into the development of advanced product concepts through the use of new technologies or processes.

Job Duties:

  • Deliver proof of concept by turning concepts and new product visions into reality. You will own the planning, process and project details that create the framework for consistently delivering new never been done before innovations.
  • Drive the development of innovation projects turning concept ideation into reality by working in, or with multi-disciplinary teams to include, Academic Computing, Enterprise Systems, Educational Technology, Interactive Services, and 3rd party consultants.
  • Define the protocol and establish a scope of testing required to prove and validate a concept. Testing feedback from faculty and administrators will direct product refinement and improve product performance.
  • Meet complex challenges with imaginative state of the art approaches supported by feasible solutions.
  • Drive the preparation of reports and presenting results that demonstrate product and manufacturing readiness, and concept directions. In addition, you'll clearly and concisely communicate the knowledge and best practices required to assist the transition of technology to product. 
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

Education: Masters degree in Architecture, Industrial Design or Computer Science.

Experience: A minimum of 5 years of relevant work experience, typically in development, design, engineering, research, and/or production.

Knowledge and Skills:

  • Demonstrated advanced skills and abilities in ideation and research.
  • Thorough knowledge of advanced product construction concepts, including but not limited to: Computationally driven workflows (grasshopper), GIS, Python, SQL, Excel, dashboard creation, report automation, web Reporting tools, web languages, environmental analysis, simulation, and sustainability concepts.
  • Comfortable with equipment and tools for hands-on concept development, and directing creators to facilitate initial concept prototypes.
  • Ability to work directly with administrators and faculty ask probing questions, learn from their insights and translate insights/concepts into prototypes directly addressing their needs.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills meeting facilitation and presentation.
  • Demonstrated leadership capability, including the ability to motivate and mentor others within the workgroup.
  • Advanced project management skills, including short term and long range project planning.
  • Understands connectivity between institutional operations and innovation.
  • Strong team player: successful collaborator.
  • Embraces ambiguity and understands that failure is part of the creative innovation process.
  • Ability to prioritize workload, build an individual portfolio of exploration work, and manage multiple projects at a time.
  • Prefer deep expertise in one or more of the following areas Product Knowledge, Creative & Innovative Problem Solving, Innovative Thinking, Project Management & Planning, Visioning, Development, Engineering, and Research.

Pratt Institute is a coeducational, private, professional college offering associate, bachelor and master's degree programs in art and design, architecture and library science. The Institute has been educating professionals for productive careers in artistic and technical fields since its founding on its present site in Brooklyn in 1887 by the industrialist and philanthropist Charles Pratt. Pratt is one of the largest undergraduate and graduate schools for art, design and architecture in the country and offers a wide range of cross discipline study options, dual degrees and major concentrations. The Institute's 25-acre campus contains twenty-four buildings, including landmark Romanesque and Renaissance Revival-style structures, clustered around spacious lawns and tree-canopied plazas. Sixteen buildings contain extensive studio, shop and technical facilities needed to support work in all media-from the traditional to the experimental. Five buildings are student residences. All have computer networking capacities and are Internet accessible. Computer labs, established with the most current equipment and the latest software, are available for instructional purposes and individual project use. Gallery space is extensive and the work of students, alumni, staff and other well-known artists is shown throughout the academic year. Pratt's Library, an historical landmark built in 1896, was the first fully automated academic library in the New York City area. Its art and architecture collection is excellent and contains approximately 208,000 volumes, 500 periodical and newspaper subscriptions, 66,000 slides, 190,000 pictures, 50,000 microforms, and 45,000 governmental documents.
