NC State Entrepreneurship’s role within the Office of the Provost is to build a culture of entrepreneurship at NC State. Using an interdisciplinary approach, we foster and teach innovation and entrepreneurship by providing resources and real-world experiences for students across the university. These include but are not limited to the Garage; a co-working facility that provides resources for student start-ups, the Albright Entrepreneurs Village; a residential community that encourages entrepreneurial exploration; an academic course within the General Education curriculum that focuses on entrepreneurial thinking; and large-scale events such as the Lulu eGames student startup competition. Our unit also provides marketing and administrative support to the Entrepreneurship Alliance, a consortium of more than 20 entrepreneurship programs and units across campus.

Essential Job Duties

This position is responsible for providing event and operations support for NC State Entrepreneurship, an alliance of programs representing entrepreneurship-related offerings at North Carolina State University.
This role plays a critical role in the implementation of activities, programs, meetings and large-scale events that support entrepreneurship across campus. The ideal candidate will work collaboratively with the NC State Entrepreneurship team to implement these high impact entrepreneurial experiences and opportunities. Additionally, this role will support operations by providing office management support and communication. The position will report to the Assistant Vice Provost & Managing Director of NC State Entrepreneurship. Responsibilities include:
-Oversees the planning and coordination for large-scale events that support entrepreneurship across the university (Lulu eGames, Entrepalooza); included by not limited to: venue, catering, speakers, participants, volunteers, other vendors
-Coordinates logistics for central programming and other recurring activities/programs that support entrepreneurship across the university (Startup Essentials, Start Here Mondays, Global Entrepreneurship Week, etc.) included by not limited to: venue, catering, speakers, participants, volunteers, other vendors
-Assists in the planning and coordination of immersive, interdisciplinary entrepreneurship experiences, such as the Miller Fellowship, Trips and Tours and Jump Start program, as well as helps manage the application process
-Responsible for post event follow-up, including assessment, invoice tracking and “thank you” notes
-Provides meeting support for the Entrepreneurship Alliance and Advisory Board; including but not limited to: reserving meeting location, preparing meeting agendas, taking and distributing minutes and email communications
-Meets deadlines imposed by vendors when planning events and establishes good working relationships
-Works collaboratively with the NC State Entrepreneurship team on event/program planning and coordination, ensuring strategic goals are met and utilizing marketing resources for promotions/advertising
-Engages members of the Entrepreneurship Alliance in campus-wide events and activities in an effort to strengthen and enhance partnerships
-Manages all event calendars and leads event/program planning sessions for NC State Entrepreneurship team
-Fields inquiries to general phone line and email address
-Serves as the first point-of-contact for the community for general inquiries
-Provides office management support for NC State Entrepreneurship included but not limited to managing resources and supplies for administrative offices
-Builds and maintains strong working relationships with on and off-campus partners
-Understands the many entrepreneurship programs and offerings at NC State
-Able to clearly articulate the entrepreneurial landscape to a variety of audiences
-Understands the strategic goals of the university and how they relate to the Alliance
-Familiar with NC State’s branding standards
-Represents NC State Entrepreneurship at campus events

Other Work/Responsibilities

-Actively participate in NC State Entrepreneurship programming and events.
-Other duties/responsibilities as assigned.

Minimum Experience/Education

Bachelor’s degree; or an equivalent combination of training and experience.

All degrees must be received from appropriately accredited institutions.

Preferred Experience, Skills, Training/Education

-Bachelor’s degree in a discipline related to the area of assignment; or an equivalent combination of training and experience.
-Experience with project management tools such as Trello and Slack
