Requirements

The Georgetown Center for the Constitution organizes a number of programs on constitutional law and theory to Georgetown Law. Founded in 2012, the Center offers a variety of programs on constitutional law and theory at Georgetown Law, placing special emphasis on how best to remain faithful to the Constitution's text.

The Assistant Program Manager handles the daily administration of the Center including personnel and application management, conference and symposium management, as well as other co-sponsored events. S/he is tasked with converting symposium papers to a format suitable to be published as an e-book. The Assistant Program Manager will assist the Program Manager in all of these areas and has duties that include but are not limited to:
  • Assist in organizing conferences and other events sponsored by the Center, including drafting and sending invitations to faculty for two major conferences.
  • Coordinate with the Office of Faculty Support, Financial Affairs, Special Events and other Georgetown Law departments to fully execute successful events.
  • Collaborate with the Georgetown Journal of Law and Public Policy to ensure timely publication of scholarship resulting from Center events.
  • Develop and maintain an electronic depository for scholarship relevant to the Center's mission in coordination with the Georgetown Law Library and the directors.
  • Create and maintain a web-based platform for sharing relevant scholarship with fellow scholars.
  • Promote the center and events, corresponding with Student Fellows regarding events, employment opportunities, and research tools.
  • Advertise the Center's events and programs across multiple mediums, identifying and corresponding with media outlets to promote the Center.
  • Assist with creating, administering, and recording the application processes of graduate fellowships and summer boot camp; Draft and send acknowledgement letters and acceptance/rejection letters to applicants.
  • Support graduate fellows and visiting scholars in relocating to DC for their appointments, coordinating with campus staff to handle all logistical details.

Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree with admission into the JD program
  • Outstanding interpersonal, oral and written communication skills
  • Strong organizational and time-management abilities
  • Ability to effectively serve diverse personalities, maintain poise and professional demeanor, diplomacy and tact, sound judgment and discretion when dealing with confidential and sensitive information in what can be a high-pressured environment
  • Familiarity with web design software and the development of web pages and the ability assist in the updating and upkeep of Center web pages
  • Ability to design and create PowerPoint presentations and assist with their presentation as needed
  • Ability to learn how to convert documents to a form suitable for e-book publication
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, willingness and ability to learn university software, and familiarity with laser printers, fax machines, and photocopiers
  • Willing to acquire basic proficiency in handling WordPerfect documents
  • 3-4 years progressive administrative and project management experience, editing and proofreading skills are preferred
