JOB GOAL:

GENERAL JOB SUMMARY:
Under minimal supervision, the instructor is responsible for fostering student learning in the areas of nursing and general health courses for the Nursing department. Courses are taught for 3 semesters (Fall, Spring, and Summer). This is a 201 day contract. This position will involve days, evenings and/or weekends, with a varying schedule between classroom and clinic focused teaching. The faculty must develop, implement and evaluate instruction, and report and record student achievement in assigned courses in accordance with department, division and college policies and procedures. Teaching responsibilities include lecture, laboratory and clinical practice settings. Responsibilities will also include advising of current and prospective students and providing assistance in development and implementation of departmental initiatives. The faculty must be responsible for meeting the goals and objectives of an individual Professional Preparation Plan as outlined in the College's Quality Faculty Plan as well as an Iowa Nursing License.

DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Design, implement, evaluate, and revise the nursing curriculum.
  • Provide students with written policies as specified in sub rule 2.7 (1).
  • Participate in academic advising and guidance of students.
  • Provide for admission, promotion, and graduation of students.
  • Provide for student, self, and peer assessment of teaching effectiveness.
  • Participate in activities to improve competency in area of expertise.

  • Be able and willing to deliver courses in alternative delivery times and methods as required by the department, including evening, AT/AW, Internet, and telecommunications courses.
  • Maintain a minimum of five office hours per week and be available on an as needed basis for student questions and discussions regarding their performance.

PHYSICAL ACTIVITIES WITH/WITHOUT REASONABLE ACCOMMODATION:

Position involves working in an office setting. Occasional (10-33%) standing, pushing, pulling and grasping. Frequent (34-66%) reaching and viewing a computer and other types of close visual work. Constant (67-100%) sitting, walking, repetitive motion, talking and hearing.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Master of Science in Nursing.
  • Iowa Nursing License.
