General Position Description

Instruct courses in speech communication, including introduction to speech communication, interpersonal, public speaking, and business and professional speaking. Other responsibilities include, but are not limited to, advising students; maintaining office hours; participating in college committees; promoting and supporting extra-curricular activities; participating in professional development; and working across departments to develop student communication, computation, and problem-solving skills. Teaching responsibilities may include evening, weekend, off-campus, and dual-credit classes, as well as teaching online or via other non-traditional methods of instructional delivery. This position reports to the Division Chair of Language, Literature, & Communication and exercises no supervision.
NOTE: This is a security sensitive position, and an appropriate background investigation will be made on applicants being strongly considered for this position.

Minimum Qualification Requirements

Education: Master's degree from an accredited college or university, with a minimum of 18 graduate hours in Speech or Communication Studies.
Experience: College-level teaching experience; may consist of part-time teaching and/or teaching done while in graduate school.

Working Conditions

Physical effort-restricted; sustained posture or intense attentiveness for prolonged periods. Light lifting (less than 30 lbs), some walking, pushing, and pulling on a regular basis. Work environment-minimal hazard/exposure; standard office setting. At least minimal environmental controls to assure health and comfort.
