Instructor for courses in the medical laboratory technician program (didactic, laboratory, clinical) primarily urinalysis, phlebotomy, clinical microbiology, immunohematology, immunology, and medical terminology. Other courses as indicated. Schedule student rotations at clinical sites and monitor student progress at the clinical affiliates. Other responsibilities include, but are not limited to: student advising, maintaining office hours, participating in college committees, promoting and supporting extra-curricular activities, participating in professional development, and working across departments to develop student communication, computation, and problem-solving skills, May include evening classes; may include weekend, off-campus, television and/or online courses. This position reports to the Program Director for the Medical Lab Technician Program and exercises no supervision.
Minimum Qualification RequirementsEducation: Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university with major coursework in medical laboratory technology or a closely related field.
Experience: Three years of full-time experience working in all areas of the medical laboratory.
Special requirements: Certified or eligible for certification as a medical technologist or medical laboratory scientist, ASCP or equivalent. Selected candidate will be expected to obtain certification within one year of hire.
Experience: One year full-time teaching experience.

Knowledge of: (1) Subject Matter; (2) Professional Development Planning; (3) Trends in teaching/learning theory as it applies to medical lab technology; Ability to: (4) Maintain office hours; (5) Advise students; (6) Teach at the post secondary level; (7) Use technology in support of Instruction; (8) Evaluate student performance; (9) Promote and support related extra-curricular activities; (10) Work across departments to develop student communication, computation, and problem solving skills; (11) Establish and maintain cooperative working relationships with those contacted in the course of work; (12) Communicate clearly and concisely, both orally and in writing.
Physical effort-Restricted: Sustained posture or intense attentiveness for prolonged periods. Light lifting (less than 30 lbs), some walking, pushing, pulling on a regular basis. Work environment-Minimal hazard/exposure: Standard office setting. At least minimal environmental controls to assure health and comfort.
