General Position Description

To assist in the design and production of vendor ready materials for use on campus and throughout the community. To create digital graphics using original designs, electronic stock art, and photography. To research (via media and the internet) current and emerging trends in design and technology and incorporate into McLennan materials. To provide graphic design expertise and software assistance to Marcom and McLennan faculty and staff members. This position reports to the Associate Director of Marketing and Communications and exercises no supervision. NOTE: This is a security sensitive position and an appropriate background investigation will be made on applicants being strongly considered for this position.

Minimum Qualification Requirements

Education: Associate's degree from an accredited college or university or equivalent education and work experience.
Experience: More than one year of professional experience.

Selection Criteria

Knowledge of: (1) elements of attractive design; (2) fundamentals of effective visual communication; (3) disciplined brand management; (4) marketing and advertising methodology; (5) usage of and trends in current social media platforms; (6)print production, prepress, and print publishing; (7) digital production and digital publishing; (8) practical web design and intuitive user interface; (9) contemporary trends in art and design; (10) current requirements of accessibility law and how to meet them. Skills in: (11) the field of graphic design; (12) usage and mastery of the following programs: Adobe CC Suite and Microsoft Office Suite; (13) hands-on customer service experience with clients to discuss project details and help manage any changes or concerns. Ability to: (14) develop, critique, and edit visual designs for a multitude of platforms and usage; (15) effectively prioritize projects to keep them on schedule and assist in projects to meet the college and team's goals; (16) understand and follow oral and written instructions; (17) communicate clearly, courteously, and effectively with the campus community and public.

Working Conditions

Sedentary: Desk work; occasional field trips e.g. for college or program activities. Insignificant effort other than normal movement. Minimal Hazard/Exposure: Standard office setting. At least minimal environmental controls to assure health and comfort. Must be available for some flexible scheduling.
