Provides technical support in performing the functions of the Small Business Development Center (SBDC). Performs the full range of duties as assigned with major responsibility for the project management information system (MIS) and budget functions. Duties may include serving as receptionist, providing information and assistance to students, staff, and the public, typing, scheduling appointments, and filing. This position receives direction from the Project Director, SBDC and exercises no supervision.
Minimum Qualification RequirementsEducation: High School diploma or GED required.
Preferred RequirementsExperience: One-year experience in an office environment.
Selection Criteria* Attach a brief statement addressing how you acquired each of the following Knowledge, Skills and Abilities through your education, personal experience or previous employment. Knowledge of: 1. Management Information Systems and computers. 2. Software applications including Microsoft Outlook, wood, Excel, Internet browsers. 3. Social Media applications including Facebook, Twitter, and Constant Contact. 4. English usage, spelling, grammar, and punctuation. 5. Office methods and practices, including filing systems, record maintenance, and letter and report writing. 6. Principles and procedures of basic record keeping. 7. Office equipment such as desktop computer and calculator. Skills in: 8. Assessing potential SBDC client inquiries and respond to their needs efficiently. 9. Communicate successfully, both orally and in writing. 10. Understand and follow oral written instructions. 11. Learn new software and stay abreast of new application. . Ability to: 12. Establish and maintain effective working relationships with those contacted during work. 13. Greet, assist and give information either in person, mail, or telephone to clients, or potential clients of the SBDC. 14. Assist with, or prepare training reports. 15. Prepare all correspondence on a computer with knowledge of email and internet. 16. Purchase all office supplies from vendors. 17. Maintain inventory of all supplies. 18. Maintain all files in compliance with grant requirements.
Working ConditionsSedentary: Desk work; occasional field trips e.g. for college or program activities. Insignificant effort other than normal movement. Minimal Hazard/Exposure: Standard office setting. At least minimal environmental controls to assure health and comfort.
