General Position Description

To provide general secretarial and clerical support for assigned management staff. Perform the full range of duties as assigned including serving as receptionist, providing information and assistance to students, staff, and the public, typing, scheduling appointments, filing, budget, and assist with engagement activities planning and programming. Receive only occasional instruction or assistance as new or unusual situations arise and are fully aware of the operating procedures and policies of the work unit. This position receives direction from the Director, Student Engagement and Compliance Education and exercises no supervision. NOTE: This is a security sensitive position and an appropriate background investigation will be made on applicants being strongly considered for this position.

Minimum Qualification Requirements

Education: High school diploma or GED.
Experience: Two years' work experience in a clerical environment.

Selection Criteria

English usage, spelling, grammar, and punctuation.2. Office methods and practices, including filing systems, record maintenance, and letter and report writing. 3. Principles and procedures of basic record keeping. 4. Modern and complex office equipment, including copiers, scanners, and computers. Skill in: 5. Proofreading and editing documents. Ability to: 6. Communicate successfully in oral and written format. 7. Use a keyboard at speed necessary for successful job performance. 8. Understand and follow oral and written instructions. 9. Learn and utilize new technologies. 10. Provide a variety of general clerical work. 11. Operate a multi-line phone system/computerized switchboard. 12. Take messages accurately from a variety of sources such as telephone, e-mail, and voice mail and communicate information in an accurate and concise manner. 13. Perform a variety of duties under time constraints. 14. Establish and maintain cooperative working relationships with those contacted in the course of work. 11. Operate a typewriter, word processor, and other standard office equipment.

Working Conditions

Desk work; occasional field trips e.g. for college or program activities. Insignificant effort other than normal movement. Minimal Hazard/Exposure: Standard office setting. At least minimal environment controls to assure health and comfort.
