Position Summary

Big Bend Community College invites applications for a Part-time Aviation Maintenance Technology (AMT) Lab Technician position in the college's Aviation Maintenance Technology Department. BBCC is a small rural community college located in the sunny, central part of Washington State, and is accredited by the Northwest Commission on Colleges and Universities. Big Bend Community College serves over 5,000 students annually, with an annualized FTE of approximately 2,100, in a 4,600-square-mile service district including 15 communities in Grant and Adams counties and the Odessa School District in Lincoln County with on-site, online instruction, and interactive classrooms.

This position is responsible to provide support and assistance to students and faculty in the Aviation Maintenance Technology (AMT) program.

The work schedule for this position is mid-September to mid-June; average of 16 hours per week. Schedule will be determined according to the needs of the department, may include day or evening hours.

Essential Job Duties

ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES:

• Preparation of material and equipment for use in the shop, classroom, or lab.
• Set up, maintain, and operate equipment in accordance with standardized procedures or instructions from faculty.
• Assist students in course assignments and projects.
• Maintains and organizes inventories of stockroom materials; order materials as needed.
• Maintains quarterly chemical inventory, generates waste and usage lists for the Director of Campus Security & Safety.
• Ensures safety procedures are followed.
• Performs routine cleaning, maintenance, and setup of equipment. Resolves equipment problems through troubleshooting techniques.
• Ability to lift up to 50 lbs. without assistance.
• Occasional standing, walking, lifting, reaching, kneeling, bending, stooping, pushing and pulling.
• Performs other duties as required.

Minimum & Desirable Qualifications

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

• High School Diploma or GED.
• Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) Airframe and/or Power Plant certification.
• Knowledge of the equipment used in aviation maintenance.
• Knowledge and understanding of safe work practices.
• A demonstrated understanding of and value for the contributions that a diverse workforce can make to the success of both the organization and the students we serve.

DESIRABLE QUALIFICATIONS:

• Bilingual English/Spanish proficiency.
