Sr. Assistant Dean, Faculty Affairs - School of continuing Studies (SCS)

Sr. Assistant Dean, Faculty Affairs - School of continuing Studies (SCS)
The Senior Assistant Dean of Faculty Affairs is an academic and administrative leader for SCS and serves as a key member of the Faculty and Academic Affairs Team. This position is responsible for ensuring that programs fulfill their mission in terms of faculty and academic excellence by providing oversight of course, program, and curricular assessment. The role supports efforts to develop and maintain an internal Faculty Director peer-to-peer program review framework for ongoing self-assessment of curriculum alignment with industry competencies to ensure academic rigor. S/he collaborates with the Senior Associate Dean and Senior Assistant Dean of Instructional Design and Digital Learning to create a framework to ensure that industry-relevant learning outcomes are integrated in each MPS program.

The Senior Assistant Dean ensures that program level outcomes are articulated in a consistent manner and aligned with the school's mission and strategic priorities.
S/he collaborates with the Senior Associate Dean for Faculty and Academic Affairs and Senior Assistant Dean for Instructional Design and Digital Learning to develop and implement a framework to assess the quality of teaching and learning in online, on-campus, and multi-modal courses. The qualified candidate will provide support to the Senior Associate Dean by contributing to efforts related to the following instructional faculty evaluation processes: annual evaluations, renewal and non-renewal evaluations, and promotion evaluations. On a day-to-day basis, the Sr. Assistant Dean will work collaboratively with Faculty Directors, Deans, and instructional designers. Duties include but are not limited to:

Academic Affairs, Curriculum Development, and Assessment
  • Collaborate with the Senior Associate Dean for Faculty and Academic Affairs to develop and assess curricula for degree programs, which includes online and multimodality programs.
  • Contribute to the creation of a quality review process for online and multimodality courses.
  • Support the development of an internal peer-to-peer program review framework for ongoing self-assessment of curriculum alignment with industry competencies and ensure academic rigor.
  • Collaborate with the faculty directors to develop a framework for integrating industry-relevant learning outcomes in the curriculum. In collaboration with the Dean's Office, Senior Associate Dean for Faculty and Academic Affairs, and Faculty Directors, support efforts to ensure that program level outcomes are articulated in a consistent manner and aligned with the school's mission and strategic priorities. Work with the Senior Associate Dean for Faculty and Academic Affairs and Faculty Directors to design, develop, and launch new curricular initiatives.

Faculty Affairs
  • Work with the Senior Associate Dean for Faculty and Academic Affairs and Faculty Directors to recruit and train faculty, which includes online and multimodality faculty.
  • Support the development and management of the annual faculty review process and the development and execution of a promotion scheme for Faculty Directors.
  • Work with Deans and Faculty Directors to develop and implement a peer-to-peer teaching review framework.
  • Collaborate with Deans, Faculty Directors, and the Senior Assistant Dean for Instructional Design and Digital Learning to develop training, events, and other professional development programming to continually advance the quality of faculty teaching and learning on-campus, online, and across multi-modality courses for full- and part-time faculty. Support the development and maintenance of quality standards for teaching on-campus and online.

Continuously Improve Curriculum Development and Assessment Using Data, Tools and Training
  • Collaborate with the Digital Strategy Team, Faculty Directors, and Deans to develop a strategy to collect, analyze, and use data to continuously improve and monitor program, curriculum, and course alignment with learning outcomes.

Qualifications
  • Master's degree, prefer candidates with a Ph.D. in Education, Educational Administration, or related field.
  • 5+ years' experience developing, launching, and maintaining online educational programs at various stages of growth, preferably at an institute of higher education.
  • Fluency in all Microsoft office products, and use of the internet required.

Preferred Qualifications
  • 5+ years management experience.
  • Exceptional interpersonal skills and strong managerial ability. Ability to interact and influence at the most senior levels of an organization and to work collaboratively across functions, levels and departments toward shared objectives.
  • Strong writing and communication skills, including comfort with public presentations to a wide range of audiences.
  • Ability to research a diverse array of topics and distill the key messages in preparation for presentations about the School of Continuing Studies
  • Ability to work cooperatively and strategically in a team environment with all levels of professional, technical and administrative staff and to integrate resources on a timely and organized basis.
  • Sound management skills, ability to think strategically while balancing several complex agendas.
  • Established skills in planning and managing multiple, diverse and organizational needs.
  • Demonstrated expertise in a variety of the field's concepts, practices, and procedures. Relies on experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals.
  • Commitment to the mission of the School of Continuing Studies, and the vision of Dean.
  • A sense of humor, and a desire to work with a variety of people in expanding the work of the SCS.
  • Possess character that combines integrity, the highest standards of ethics, and the determination to be an effective team member.
  • Fluency in all Microsoft office products, and use of the internet required.
