Primary Purpose of the Organizational UnitHousing and Residence Life provides safe, inclusive, and secure residential communities where a diverse and innovative team of professionals encourage students to pursue academic excellence, personal growth, civic leadership, and responsibility. Efficient and effective programs and services are provided by competently trained and reliable departmental teams in affordable, clean, comfortable, and sound facilities equipped with current technologies. Position SummaryUnder general supervision, to perform skilled journey level work in all assigned responsibilities related to construction, renovation, maintenance, and repair of Housing and Residence Life facilities which may include upkeep, renovation, and general maintenance of plumbing, heating, air conditioning, electrical and other systems, carpentry including building walls, hanging doors and trim work, flooring, acoustical ceiling grids, cabinetry, drywall hanging and finishing, paint and light furniture repairs.
Required to read and understand floor plans and construction documents necessary to construct or erect small to moderately complex projects with minimal assistance from project managers and/or supervisor.
Minimum QualificationsHIGH SCHOOL DIPLOMA OR EQUIVALENCY; OR DEMONSTRATED POSSESSION OF THE COMPETENCIES NECESSARY TO PERFORM THE WORK. OPTIONAL GUIDELINES: EXPERIENCE IN THE TRADE AREAS RELATED TO THE AREA OF ASSIGNMENT MAY BE SUBSTITUTED ON A YEAR-FOR-YEAR BASIS.
Additional Required Certifications, Licensures, and Certificates Preferred QualificationsFive years of experience in one or more of the building trades or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

Assist in Project Office Renovations and Repair
Essential TasksUses knowledge, equipment and tools to assist in Project Office renovations and repair student issues through work order requests individually or as a team when deemed necessary with great attention to detail and accuracy and with a polite and professional manner.
Performs carpentry work to include but not limited to the construction or renovation of buildings or additions to existing structures; erects and maintains scaffolds, forms, frames, fences and other structures; alters and repairs doors, floors, partitions, stairways, windows, screens, and other fixtures; fits and glazes glass in windows and doors.
Light plumbing tasks to include but not limited to installing, replacing, altering, maintaining and repairing plumbing fixtures such as sinks, traps, faucets.
Light electrical tasks to include but not limited to repairs and/or installation of light fixtures, receptacles and switches. Troubleshooting and making electrical repairs not requiring a license.
Tasks to include but not limited to constructing, maintaining and repairing concrete.

The University's Academic Affairs Division consists of seven academic schools, the College of Arts & Sciences, the Graduate School and the Lloyd International Honors College.
