About the College/Department

In a partnership between the University of Arkansas System Division of Agriculture and Arkansas State University, faculty in the ASU College of Agriculture conduct research through the Agricultural Experiment Station within the Division of Agriculture. ASU scientists work collaboratively with other Division scientists on a number of research projects with an emphasis on row crop agriculture in northeast Arkansas.

Prepares financial reports, statements and spreadsheets to consolidate financial activities. Reconciles accounts and resolves any discrepancies. Prepares and develops financial projections/forecasts, “what if” scenarios, budget control systems, cash management systems, etc. and works with the Dean on financial planning and reporting at monthly, quarterly and yearly intervals. Reviews all purchasing related activities and provides oversight by monitoring how purchases are affecting the budget, for compliance with U of A policies and OMB guidelines, and for appropriate spending limits. Performs other program, grant, or department specific financial or budget related activities. Serves as a liaison with other U of A or ASU departments and/or external agencies by problem solving, resolving budget issues, and providing appropriate information for various financial, budget or grant related inquiries. Performs various accounting duties by reconciling the books on a monthly basis, vehicle reports, quarterly ASU billing reports, and assists with departmental budgets and fiscal monthly and year end closing. Responsible for proper and timely entry of time records, payroll related documents, purchase orders, personnel action forms, budget entries and liability adjustments, labor distribution reports, or other procedural forms required by other departments both at ASU and UofA. Accounts for expenditures, maintains insurance, license and equipment reports and costs. Checks UofA inventory in building. Provides budgeting assistance for collaborative grants with the USDA-ARS Delta Water management Research Unit located on the campus of Arkansas State University.

The formal education equivalent of a bachelors degree in general business, finance, or a related field.
