Associates Degree in related field. Four years relevant administrative assistant experience or experience in a related field. A combination of education, experience, and training that would produce the required knowledge and abilities could be considered.

Nature & Purpose of Position

Performs complex administrative assistant duties for the Department of Family and Consumer Sciences.

Primary Responsibilities

Performs complex administrative support tasks such as: answers correspondence not requiring the attention of the supervisor or involving policy or technical decisions; prepares correspondence, memorandums, requisitions, personnel actions, and other similar papers; in the absence of the supervisor acts with authority relating to office management functions, making limited policy interpretations and decisions requiring a knowledge of the supervisor’s viewpoints; reviews and allocates incoming mail to appropriate personnel within the department or project based upon a knowledge of the organization and its function. Assists in the preparation of departmental or project budgets, grant applications, and periodic status reports of grant funds. Performs other related duties as assigned.

Other Specifications

Requires a general knowledge of standard office functions. Requires good knowledge of procedures and practices. Must be able to use standard office software. Must be able to apply policies and procedures and solve routine problems of a repetitive nature.
