Department Biological ScienceResponsibilities Greenhouse Assistant is responsible for helping manage greenhouse facilities on campus and a large research facility off campus.

Work will focus on plant care including a teaching collection and plants used in research.

Additional duties include assistance with watering plants, scouting for insects, managing pests, field work, stocking supplies, cleaning and maintaining equipment, monitoring and troubleshooting equipment breakage, and other various tasks as determined by the Greenhouse Facilities Manager.Qualifications Bachelor's Degree; or Associates Degree and 2 years’ experience; or 4 years’ experience. Related experience includes working in plant research, greenhouse, nursery, or some agricultural setting. Handy-person/construction and landscape experience will be considered.

Skill in plant identification.

Ability to lift 50 pounds and work outdoors on hot and humid days, as well as in sometimes hot and humid greenhouses.

Ability and willingness to learn: operation of agricultural machinery, greenhouse control systems (hardware and software), proper plant care and management techniques, and other related tasks.

State of Florida Class E or Georgia driver's license.

Applicant must be available to work daily (Greenhouse Facilities Manager and Greenhouse Assistant together manage the facilities 365 day a year). Applicant must be willing to work 30 hours each week. Position requires some (minimal) weekend work.Preferred Plant enthusiast preferred.
