Position:

Towson University is inviting established scholars and clinicians, and promising faculty applicants for two tenure track, full time, 10-month faculty positions at the Assistant Professor or Associate Professor rank beginning August 2019.

Responsibilities:

1)Teaching - provide high quality instruction in a variety of undergraduate and/or graduate nursing courses, advise and mentor students as they matriculate through the program and prepare to enter the profession; 2) Scholarship - development/continuation of a focused area of scholarship that includes refereed publications, professional presentations, external funding, and involvement in scholarly projects with faculty and students; 3) Service - active service participation at the Department, College, University, Profession and community levels.

Qualifications:

Research doctorate and master’s degree in nursing with expertise in a respective specialty area. Evidence of sustainable nursing scholarship agenda. ABD applicants considered, but appointment will be at the instructor rank and all degree requirements must be completed by February 1, 2020. All candidates are expected to possess a strong commitment to excellence in teaching and advising. Licensure or eligibility for licensure in Maryland is required. Demonstrated success in working with diverse populations of students is also preferred. Salary is competitive and commensurate with experience. Academic rank as an Assistant or Associate professor will be commensurate with qualification and university promotion and tenure criteria.  

The Department:

The Department of Nursing is one of five departments in the College of Health Professions and CCNE accredited with approximately 425 undergraduate students. The Department offers master’s programs in nursing education and nursing administration. There are currently about 50 students enrolled in graduate studies. Post-baccalaureate/post-master’s certificates in nursing education are available. Student admission is highly competitive. The Department of Nursing also offers the baccalaureate degrees at the Western Maryland Hagerstown campus, a regional center within the University System of Maryland and Towson University Northeast campus, which is located in Bel Air, Maryland.
