Information Technology and Engineering Computing Services (ITECS) is charged with providing a world class computing environment for the Faculty, Staff and Students of the College of Engineering at NC State University. ITECS fulfills this charge through a combination of direct IT support activities, active collaboration and partnership with other IT support entities within the College, with other IT support groups (OIT, DELTA, colleges) and with our faculty, staff and student constituencies. ITECS staff provide technical leadership and capability in their core competencies both within the College of Engineering and to the University technical community as a whole.Essential Job Duties
Provides Tier 2 level support for the ITECS Service Desk. Train and mentor the ITECS service Desk Tier 1 and ITECS student workers.
Develops and implements software application packaging and deployment processes, as well as comprehensive desktop installation, management and auditing strategies for the Active Directory-based administrative and computer lab desktop environments. Collaborates with campus IT groups to maximize integration with other campus Windows environments. Assists in installation and support for internal ITECS/Systems Infrastructure services and coding projects. Researches, designs and installs new services, tests and improves current services, including but not limited to advanced software systems, networking technologies, and specialized server equipment.
Develop strategies for new/upgraded application deployment and improved license server services for College of Engineering applications.
Provide 3rd tier support for desktop environment use and issues. Provide training and mentoring to 1st and 2nd tier support staff.Minimum Education/Experience
Associate’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related discipline and one year of experience in the information technology field related to the area of assignment; or bachelor’s degree and one year of experience in the information technology field related to the area of assignment; or bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related discipline; or an equivalent combination of training and experience.
All degrees must be received from appropriately accredited institutions.
Knowledge of Active Directory and related information technology systems (WDS/WSUS/SCCM).
Knowledge of Windows application packaging and distribution strategies.
Experience in a heterogeneous computing environment consisting of Windows, Mac, and Linux systems.
Excellent at verbal and written communication.
MIcrosoft Active Directory and Microsoft SCCM
Application packaging and deployment processes, as well as comprehensive desktop installation.
Understanding of and ability to support a heterogeneous computing environment consisting of Windows, Mac, and Linux systems within an IT Service Management (ITSM) framework.
Ability to communicate with internal and external customers. Ability to train others team members.
Ability to develop documentation and training on the IT tasks that are ITECS Service desk specific.
