Department Overview
The Office of Academic Affairs supports the academic mission of the Texas College of Osteopathic Medicine (TCOM). Our team is responsible for the development, implementation, and assessment of the Osteopathic medical degree program. We work collaboratively with faculty, staff, and students to develop an ever improving learning environment through faculty development, curricular innovation, and assessment.

We identify and develop partnerships with our stakeholders in support of medical education with a commitment to enriching the academic and professional development of our students and faculty. In addition, the office works in partnership with the Office of Student Affairs to ensure student success and wellness.

Position Details
The Academic Affairs TCOM Department at the University of North Texas Health Science Center is seeking to hire a Senior Associate Dean for Academic Affairs to join our team.

The Senior Associate Dean for Academic Affairs serves at the direction of the Dean of the University of North Texas Health Science Center, TCOM. This role oversees the daily operations of the medical school curriculum to insure that the highest quality of education attainable is delivered to TCOM medical students. Responsibilities of the position include but are not limited to:

* Oversees and serves as the Chair of the TCOM Curriculum Committee and the TCOM Student Performance Committee.
* Oversees the Year 1 through 2 Curriculum Directors, Office of Clinical Education, Rural Medical Education and is responsible for the schedule and coordination of TCOM educational activities.
* Insures that proper oversight is given to all aspects of the medical school curriculum.
* Oversees curriculum development for the medical school.
* Works in association with Curriculum, Course, and Clerkship Directors in the effective delivery of the curriculum to all in pre-clinical and clinical years of medical education.
* Oversees the assessment of student performance, student learning outcomes, and program outcomes.
* Collaborates with the Center for Innovative Learning in developing and delivering faculty development through the Academy of Medical Educators.
* Is responsible for the development, delivery, and assessment of coursework that meets the standards established by the Council on Osteopathic College Accreditation.
* Shall meet, and coordinate with Course Directors, and when necessary, course instructors, to insure that curriculum content is appropriate and delivered in the best possible manner, and that teaching is done in a "student centric/ patient centric" adult learning model.
* Encourages the development of scholarly activity and educational research that promotes and enhances education for medical school studies.
* Participate as a member of the Inter-Professional Curriculum Planning Committee.
* Works with Department Chairs to identify, recruit, and maintain qualified teaching faculty.
* Evaluate Educational resources and guide appropriate use of resources in support of the curriculum.
* Performs such other tasks and duties as assigned by the Dean.

Required Qualifications
The successful candidate will possess a DO/MD and/or PhD degrees and four (4) years of related experience.

Preferred Qualifications
The preferred candidate will possess the following additional qualifications:

* Education and academic experience commensurate for the rank of Associate Professor or Professor.
* At least seven (7) years' experience in medical education at the institutional level.
* Experience in curricular design, pre-clinical and clinical assessment methodology.

* Experience with the Commission on Osteopathic College Accreditation (COCA) and preparation for COCA accreditation.
* Experience in medical education at the institutional level, preferably in the development, implementation, evaluation and monitoring of an education program leading to the medical degree.
* Leadership role in implementing technology to support the learning of medical students.
* Demonstrated experience working closely or directly with senior medical school administration, university administration, governing boards for higher education and accrediting agencies.
* Demonstrated experience and leadership responsibility with professional organizations dedicated to education and medical education.
