  • Position Description

    Applications are invited for a lecturer position in Mechanical Engineering Technology beginning August 12, 2019. This position entails the teaching of a wide variety of undergraduate mechanical engineering technology courses. This position may also involve the teaching of engineering mathematics and electrical engineering technology courses at the undergraduate level, especially those that further develop the relationship between the mechanical and electrical engineering technology programs and concentrations.

    Qualifications:

    The candidate should possess a graduate degree in engineering or a closely aligned field, or equivalent professional training and/or industrial experience. A letter expressing interest in the specific position, a curriculum vitae, and a teaching or academic portfolio that contains narratives describing teaching, research, and service activities, and sufficient documentation to support the narratives, are required. The candidate’s application should convey a robust teaching background with experience in lectures, recitations, and laboratory sessions. The candidate should also be able to demonstrate success in undergraduate teaching. Finalists for the position will be expected to present a teaching module for evaluation and to convey his or her own expanded vision for the position and the candidate’s role within the Engineering Technology Department. The teaching load is 15 credit hours per semester. Consideration of applications will begin immediately and continue until the position is filled.     Ideal Qualifications

    Five years of industrial experience and a professional engineering license are preferred. A record of relevant professional activity and engagement with service activities at the community or national level, innovation in teaching pedagogy at the undergraduate course level, and engagement with undergraduate research and projects are desired. Candidates should be able to demonstrate a strong commitment to engineering technology and the role of a technology-based education within the engineering education community and industry.
