Full-time, one-year visiting, non-tenure-track position (with possibility for renewal of position up to two years total); begins Fall Term 2019.

Responsibilities:

The Department of Communication Studies at the University of Puget Sound seeks a one-year replacement, non-tenure-track, Visiting Assistant Professor. The successful candidate will teach courses in the department's social scientific curriculum (e.g., communication theory, research methods, and/or electives related to a candidate's area of expertise). The teaching load is 3-3 and the student to faculty ratio is 12:1.

The successful candidate's primary responsibilities will be to teach a variety of courses including: 1) a 100-level introductory course in organizational communication which also satisfies the University's general degree core requirement toward Social Scientific Approaches, 2) a 200-level (social scientific) communication theory course, and 3) an upper division elective(s) in organizational communication or a closely related subject area. The candidate will also contribute to the University's first-year seminar core called Seminars in Scholarly Inquiry (SSI1/2). Other duties include continuation of professional development and involvement in activities sponsored by the department and University.

Qualifications:

Ph.D. at time of the appointment. Applicants must demonstrate potential for excellence in teaching with particular commitment to undergraduate teaching and liberal arts education.
