Job Details

Conference and Event Services (CES) delivers exceptional service, resources and support to events on the University of Denver (DU) campus. While upholding the University's integrity, values and inclusive engagement, CES cultivates strategic relationships with its internal DU partners to ensure the success of outreach to local, national, and global organizations. CES provides services to clients for the exploration, discussion, and enactment of issues and topics germane to a variety of important areas that include civic, political, non-profit, educational, and business.

Position Summary

This is a non-benefited position not to exceed 1,000 hours in a calendar year.

Essential Functions

  • Manage and schedule a parking staff of 1-4 employees
  • Serve as the point of contact for scheduling parking attendant coverage for events through the Conference & Event Services office
  • Place event directional signage around campus based on the event manager's instructions
  • Serve as the first point of contact at parking structures for events on campus by greeting guests
  • Direct the patron vehicle traffic in a safe and courteous manner
  • Provide parking lot access control; checking for permits and/or selling spaces
  • Collect cash, credit card charges and other monetary values on occasion while abiding by cash handling policies and procedures
  • Responsible for cash reconciliation post event with the Conference & Event Services office
  • Manage, schedule, and supervise 1-4 parking staff

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • Able to abide by the University of Denver policies and procedures as well as Conference & Event Services policies and procedures
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Must exhibit an emphasis on customer service
  • Ability to perform basic math functions (addition, subtraction, multiplication)
  • Self-motivated, take initiative and have great problem solving skills
  • Ability to work on a team
  • Cash handling experience
  • Knowledge of the University of Denver campus

Required Qualifications

  • High School diploma or equivalent experience
  • 3-5 years in a customer service role with management experience

Preferred Qualifications

  • Associates degree or equivalent experience
  • 3-5 years in event parking management experience

Work Schedule

  • Schedule varies based on event schedule.
  • This will include nights, weekends, and holiday shifts.

Working Environment and Physical Activities

  • Ability to stand at an assigned post or location for at least a 4 hour timeframe
  • Occasionally required to move about the office/campus with the capability of transporting objects up to 50 lbs.
  • Outdoor environment exposed to all weather conditions
  • Noise level medium to high
