Job FieldThe Faculty of Information at the University of Toronto invites applications for a two-year Contractually Limited Term Appointment at the rank of Assistant Professor in the area of data science and/or information systems, beginning on July 1, 2019, or shortly thereafter, and ending on June 30, 2021. 
We seek individuals who have expertise in data science, machine learning, database systems, data analytics, information systems, business intelligence, and/or software engineering. We seek enthusiastic individuals with the demonstrated ability and ambition to conduct innovative and independent research at the highest international standard and teach courses in the Faculty of Information’s rigorous, highly-ranked Master of Information program, primarily in the human-centred data science (HCDS) and information systems design (ISD) concentrations.
The successful candidate must have a Ph.D. in computing science, information systems, or a related field at the time of appointment or shortly thereafter and a record of excellence in research and teaching. We seek candidates whose research and teaching interests complement and strengthen our existing strengths. Evidence of excellence in teaching should be demonstrated by the teaching dossier, including a strong statement of teaching philosophy, excellent teaching evaluations, sample syllabi, and strong endorsements from referees. Evidence of excellence in research should be demonstrated by a record of contributions and publications in leading journals and conferences in the field or forthcoming publications meeting high international standards, the submitted research statement, awards and accolades, and strong endorsements by referees themselves of high international standing.
Salary is to be commensurate with qualifications and experience.
