Essential Duties / Responsibilities:

  • Supports the Foundation’s Comptroller.
  • Assists and coordinates the preparation of monthly, quarterly, and annual consolidated financial statements.
  • Assists the preparation of quarterly management financial reports for Board Committees.
  • Provides technical guidance and leadership for general and project accounting, financial reporting, investment accounting’ cash management, reconciliations, compliance, and auditing.
  • Trains and supervises all levels of department staff as assigned.
  • Reviews and approves transactions, including journal entries to ensure all documentation is accurate, clear and concise.   Manages the reconciliation of General Ledger accounts.
  • Analyzes and interprets accounting information to ensure that financial results are complete, accurate, and representative of GSUF and in compliance with GAAP.
  • Assists with the recommendation, development, implementation, and monitoring of policies and procedures relating to the general operation of the accounting and finance department and the Foundation.  Assists with monitoring compliance with relevant University and Board of Regents policies and procedures.
  • Develops and monitors department workflow; assists with the implementation of staff training and development programs to improve accuracy and efficiency.
  • Assists and coordinates the annual financial statement audit and internal control audits.
  • Assists and coordinates the preparation of all annual Federal and State tax filings.
  • Performs other related duties or projects as assigned/requested



  • Qualifications

    Bachelor's degree in Accounting or a related field and five years of related experience; or a combination of education and related experience. Experience with financial accounting software, spreedsheets, word processing and other Microsoft Office applications preferred. Certified Public Accountant (CPA) preferred.
