The Department of English and the Program in American Studies at William & Mary invite applications for a one-year, full-time, non-tenure-track Visiting Assistant Professor position that will begin August 10, 2019. We seek an individual with expertise in twentieth and twenty-first century American literature, with a preferred field in indigenous literatures. The successful applicant will be an effective teacher with a demonstrated interest in fostering a multicultural classroom, and at least two years of experience as a college or university teacher. Course load will be six regular courses per year, three for English and three for AMST. Courses taught in English will include an upper-level undergraduate course on indigenous literatures, a lower-level course on interpreting literature and another course in the candidate’s area of expertise. In AMST, the successful candidate will teach undergraduate courses in the areas of the candidate’s expertise.
