Most courses in the degree program consist of both lecture and lab components and typically include extensive field exercises. The individual hired will also serve as an academic advisor to students in the department’s programs, participate in administrative and service activities, serve as an advisor for mentored projects, and work effectively as a member of a faculty team to continually update and improve the content of degree programs in the department. The successful candidate will work with the community and college on initiatives and activities that enhance the student learning experience and community relationships. The faculty evaluation process addresses teaching, advising, scholarly activity, professional development, and service.

Position Summary:

The Department of Forest Resources at Abraham Baldwin Agricultural College seeks to hire an Assistant Professor/Lecturer of Forestry. Applicants must have an educational background in forestry.

The successful candidate will teach courses in support of ABAC’s Bachelor of Science in Natural Resource Management. Primary teaching responsibilities in forest resources may include but are not limited to Dendrology, Forest Measurements and Mapping, and Advanced Forest Ecology. Additional teaching assignments will depend on the successful candidate’s areas of interest and expertise.

This is a 10 month, tenure-track position (Assistant Professor Rank only).

Required Qualifications:

A Ph.D. in forestry or a related field is preferred (Assistant Professor Rank). A Masters Degree may be considered (Lecturer Rank).

The ability to communicate clearly both orally and in writing is also required. Work experience in some phase of natural resource management and ability to teach a wide variety of classes in natural resources are strongly preferred.

Desired Qualifications:

A Ph.D. in forestry or a related field is preferred (Assistant Professor Rank).

A broad-based bachelor’s degree in forest resources is also preferred
