This is a seasonal position working in LTER in Coweeta which is located in Otto, North Carolina. This position entails assisting with capture and banding efforts of birds, collecting invertebrate data, and assisting other field crews working in the area. A portion of the position will entail recording, entering, and checking data acquired in the field.

Relevant/Preferred Education, Experience, Licensure, Certification in Position

Bachelor’s in wildlife sciences (or related field); can be in progress; and/or handling avian species.

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities and/or Competencies

Experience handling and mist-netting birds; hiking and navigating in rugged terrain, familiarity with basic computer programs used for data entry.

Physical Demands

This position involves hiking in rugged terrain at high elevations in cool and wet conditions for multiple hours each day. Individuals should be able to carry field equipment (<30 pounds) and hike in these conditions comfortably.
