Position Description:
The Project Assistant works under the supervision of the Principal Investigator for the UCLA Hub for Health Intervention, Policy and Practice(HHIPP) along with working in directed collaboration with the CO-PI and Research Manager. The Project Assistant will serve as a member of the HHIPP research team and is assigned responsibility for coordinating and implementing a variety of funded research. The Project Assistant will coordinate research activities, which include study recruitment activities, preparing Institutional Review Board protocols, developing research-related materials and identifying, developing and facilitating new strategic project opportunities for the HHIPP research team. The Project Assistant will be responsible for but not limited to preparing and editing proposals for research funding opportunities; conducting research, organizing and coordinating research teams as appropriate to the research projects; writing technical research reports and complete project reporting required by the funder; communicating research findings to civic leaders and other stakeholders to inform policy decisions; communicate the impact of research by generating content for the project websites, Twitter accounts, Facebook pages; promote and highlight the impact of the research to diverse communities and constituencies; conduct research recruitment activities, including screening and enrollment; provide administrative support for research projects, including processing research expenses and other duties as assigned based on new research and event opportunities.
The Project Assistant will support and manage multiple projects with various deadlines. Within the HHIPP research team, the Project Assistant will focus on (1) HIV health disparities; (2) HIV law and policy; (3) HIV at the intersection of mental health and substance use; and (4) LGBT health.
The Project Assistant will operate with a high degree of autonomy. The incumbent will independently determine how to carry out assignments, make independent judgments regarding whether topics require additional consultation, and with whom, and undertake appropriate action. The Project Assistant will be proactive in identifying potential problems and opportunities and bring appropriate issues to the attention of PI and Co-PI while providing creative recommendations or action.
