Job Purpose

This position will serve as an official representative of Towson University at college fairs, high school visits, and other recruitment activities within an assigned territory to be determined at a later date. As a member of the Recruitment Team, the selected individual will aid in the successful strategic planning and recruitment of qualified students from inside and outside the state of Maryland. Major responsibilities include: meeting recruitment goals for enrollment; providing information concerning the University to prospective students and their families; assisting with various marketing activities; applicant file evaluation and a variety of administrative activities as assigned; traveling extensively to high schools and evening recruitment events, as well as evening work and periodic weekend programs; and encouraging, promoting, and maintaining favorable relationships with school counselors and TU alumni.

Description

Conduct out-of-state and in-state high school visits, college fairs, and specific events related to undergraduate student recruitment and enrollment. Review freshmen and transfer student applications for admission to Towson University. Assist with responding to questions from prospective undergraduates via phone, email, and in-person meetings. Actively participate in open houses and other off-campus events. Conduct information sessions to students and families visiting the Towson campus. Information Sessions may also be conducted at off-campus sites. Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree must be conferred by June 1, 2019. The position requires excellent communication skills: oral, written and interpersonal. Ability to present to small and large groups of people in various types of venues. Must pay attention to detail and possess strong organizational skills. The successful candidate will be a team player with a strong work ethic, interested in and attentive to cross-cultural communication and someone who actively contributes to the office welfare in a high volume, fast-paced environment. The familiarity and use of technology is critical to the success of this position and the overall operation.

Preferred: Prior experience within a college admissions office, as an orientation leader or as a tour guide are helpful, but not required. The ability to travel independently and on short notice. 

A Criminal Background Investigation is required for the hired candidate and the results may impact employment.
