The Simulation Coordinator (SC) reports directly to the Dean of the School of Health Sciences (SHS) and is responsible for providing comprehensive strategic and operational planning initiatives in support of the Simulation Program at Stockton University.  The SC supports Clinical Simulation across all programs within the SHS and in interprofessional education activities throughout the university.  The SC supports faculty in the use of simulation to ensure quality and continuity in achieving student learning outcomes.  The SC operates the medium- and high-fidelity technology to ensure the safe and effective use of simulation equipment.  The SC collaborates with the Stockton University Simulation Initiative (SUSI) in the recruitment, training, and involvement of standardized patients in simulation.  

Responsibilities:

  1. Leads the development of operational processes and procedures required to support simulation initiatives
  2. Provides Simulation education, orientation and technical training, and software support to users
  3. Operates and maintains simulation equipment and related software
  4. Monitors and controls daily operations
  5. Assists with the recruitment, training, and scheduling of patient actors through SUSI (i.e. standardized patients)
  • Promotes the services offered
  • Manages the scheduling of the Simulation Suite
  • Promotes the use of simulation to the faculty and staff of the School of Health Sciences
  • Provides consultation and support related to faculty research activities related to simulation
  • Supports the SHS Assistant/Associate Dean with Open House presentations regarding simulation, and other promotional campaigns, as needed
  • Establishes and maintains a network of relationships that supports and grows simulation initiatives across the university
  1. Collaborates with faculty on the preparation of simulation activities and evaluation strategies to promote the achievement of student learning outcomes.
  • Contributes to the development and implementation of policies, procedures & practices for simulation
  • Identifies opportunities for improvement in operational processes
  • Identifies new initiatives related to the use of simulation
  • Leads or contributes to grant writing initiatives for internal and external support of the Simulation Program.
  1. Collaborates with SHS faculty to incorporate Interprofessional Education (IPE) strategies into simulation learning activities. Maintains all resources and materials related to the utilization and operation of the simulation program and equipment.
  2. Troubleshoots technical problems
  3. Coordinates equipment and software upgrades
  4. Develops a schedule of maintenance activities, including preventive maintenance with vendor(s)

Demonstrate, through past accomplishments and actions, the ability to support Stockton University’s diversity commitment and strong student-centered vision and mission.

Required Qualifications:

  • MS in Healthcare Simulation or MS in Nursing or related clinical healthcare discipline.
  • Experience in clinical healthcare education (minimum 2 years) with prior experience developing and implementing simulation scenarios with high fidelity technology and simulated patients.
  • Experience implementing instruction with medium- to high-fidelity technology hardware and software.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience in higher education and leadership.
  • Certification related to simulation instruction using medium- to high-fidelity technology hardware and  software, simulation services, and applications.
  • Experience with CAE healthcare simulation products.
  • Experience with training and utilizing standardized patients in simulation.
  • Knowledge of business planning, modeling, concepts & tools.
  • Eligibility to practice as a registered nurse in New Jersey if applicable.
