The Division of External Relations at the George Washington University is seeking a Senior Graphic Designer to develop the visual strategy for GW marketing and communication events, collateral, videos, and other materials.
Reporting to the Managing Art Director, the Senior Graphic Designer will create original creative visual communication and marketing deliverables for the promotion of GW activities in all areas of the university including but not limited to External Relations, Office of the Provost, Student Affairs, Office of the Executive Vice President and Treasurer, Office of The Senior Vice President and General Counsel, Research, Development and Alumni Relations.
This experienced position executes design projects and creates original visual communication and marketing deliverables for the promotion of GW activities, utilizing a full scope of technical skills and creative methods. This position partners with stakeholders and internal client services to develop comprehensive print, web, and multimedia collateral to be used to meet the university’s promotional objectives, and to ensure adherence to university brand strategies, goals, and guidelines. This position may engage in the creation and development of university brand standards, and typically participates in press checks and other quality control measures including pre-flighting computer files before they are sent to vendors.
Performs other related duties as assigned. The omission of specific duties does not preclude the supervisor from assigning duties that are logically related to the position.
Minimum Qualifications:Qualified candidates will hold a Bachelor’s degree in an appropriate area of specialization plus 2 years of relevant professional experience, or, a Master’s degree or higher in a relevant area of study. Degree must be conferred by the start date of the position. Degree requirements may be substituted with an equivalent combination of education, training and experience.
Additional Required Licenses/Certifications/Posting Specific Minimum Qualifications: Preferred Qualifications:We’re looking for a designer with a strong, adaptable aesthetic, and a well-rounded portfolio to match. Showing personal work is great, but be sure to include work that was not self-directed (i.e. client work).
A solid grasp of typography, space, color, and hierarchy.
Strong layout and production skills desired.
Mastery of Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, InDesign and Illustrator).
Strong attention to detail.
Excellent communication skills, both oral and written.
Ability to work both independently and collaborate in a team environment.
Demonstrated ability to work on multiple projects at a time.
