JOB SUMMARY

The purpose of this position is to develop and manage Gordon State College’s brand identity and master branding strategy, and to lead the effort to communicate the brand to internal and external audiences. The Director oversees the college marketing, publications, non-print media, and media relations efforts.

MAJOR DUTIES

•Develops and manages the Gordon State College public image and brand; develops graphic and copy/style guides; develops creative concepts that support the brand position for advertising campaigns and promotional materials.
•Collaborates closely with the college’s Public Information Officer and Webmaster to assure consistent branding and messaging is being produced for all audiences.
•Coordinates and reviews news releases, speeches, and copy for a variety of promotional pieces about the college, including newsletters, brochures, posters, and web copy.
•Develops marketing and crisis communication plans.
•Manages the college’s marketing budget and makes advertising purchases on behalf of the college.
•Produces the President’s Report magazine annually.
•Schedules interviews with the news media; acts as a spokesperson for the college.
•Responsible for the coordination, planning, and execution of events hosted by the college and foundation as directed by the Vice President of Institutional Advancement including, but not limited to, major events for the college such as groundbreaking ceremonies, ribbon cuttings, and other major P/R events for the college.
•Liaison with media outlets to promote positive image for college.
•Manages crisis communications.
•Oversees all social media functions of the college.
•Collaborates with the VPEMSA and support the fulfillment of the Enrollment Management plan.
•Performs related duties as assigned.

Salary is 63,892.06.

Minimum Qualifications:

KNOWLEDGE REQUIRED BY THE POSITION

•Knowledge of marketing, branding, and public relations principles.
•Exceptional communication skills in all facets of work (writing, speaking, interpersonal, online presence, etc.)
•Knowledge of effective, targeted messaging.
•Knowledge of journalism practices and standards.
•Knowledge of graphic design principles.
•Knowledge of website maintenance and social media platforms.
•Knowledge of marketing in higher education.
•Knowledge of Gordon State College vision and mission statements.
•Excellent management and prioritization skills.
•Knowledge of computers and job-related software programs including Adobe Creative Suite.
•Knowledge of crisis communication principles.
•Skill in managing campaigns and promotional efforts.
•Skill in the analysis of problems and the development and implementation of solutions.
•Skill in photography and video production and development.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

•Knowledge and level of competency commonly associated with the completion of a baccalaureate degree in a course of study related to the occupational field.

•Sufficient experience to understand the basic principles relevant to the major duties of the position, usually associated having held a similar position for three to five years.

Preferred Qualifications:

•Master’s degree preferred.
