Post-Doctoral Fellow

A full-time NIH-fundedpostdoctoral position is available in the laboratory of Katherine Fantauzzo inthe Department of Craniofacial Biology at the University of Colorado AnschutzMedical Campus to study the dynamics of PDGFR dimer formation and identifyPDGFR dimer-specific interacting proteins in the craniofacial mesenchyme, withthe ultimate goal of providing therapeutic directions aimed at the treatment ofhuman birth defects such as cleft lip and palate. This project will utilize anarray of complementary approaches such as fluorescence microscopy of wholeembryos and cultured cells, conditional mutagenesis in the mouse embryo andimmunoprecipitation followed by mass spectrometry. We are seeking highlymotivated, creative and interactive applicants with the ability to workindependently. Preference will be given to applicants with a strong backgroundin biochemistry and/or mouse developmental biology who published a first-authorpaper as a result of their Ph.D. work. MinimumRequirements

  • Graduation from an accredited university with a Ph.D. or M.D./Ph.D. in biology, biochemistry, developmental biology and/or genetics

  • Willingnessto work with laboratory mice and primary cell cultures

  • Excellentcommunication skills 

  • Abilityto work independently, but cooperatively, within a research lab

Desired orpreferred

  • Strong background in biochemistry and/or mouse developmental biology

  • Publicationof at least one first-author paper as a result of graduate work
