Job Description
General Description of the Job ClassThe Senior Physician Marketing Specialist leads and coordinates the implementation of activities in support of a comprehensive marketing plan to enhance national reputation and increase regional referral growth among a physician audience. 
The successful candidate will:

  • Understand the principles of content marketing and demonstrate an interest in applying those principles to the physician audience
  • Have experience creating, or directing the creation of, written and visual (images, video, etc) content for digital platforms
  • Be comfortable working with physicians and healthcare professionals to develop content consistent with program strategy and goals
  • Duties and Responsibilities of this Level
  • Lead execution of annual national reputation marketing plan (40%). Plan may include tactics such as:
    • Developing continuing medical education (CME) activities
    • Promoting Duke CMEs to increase participation from physicians in the Southeast
    • Attending national meetings to leverage and promote thought leadership at Duke
    • Coordinating a digital media plan targeting physicians in the Southeast
  • Communicate DUHS business needs to external vendors, evaluate proposals to ensure consistency with strategy and maximize effectiveness of projects. (20%)
  • Monitor and evaluate program KPIs, investigate trends, and implement recommendations to optimize efforts. (15%)
  • Develop recommendations to leverage organic and paid social media efforts to further program goals. (10%)
  • Support creation of written and visual (images, video, etc) content consistent with broader content marketing strategy with referring physician audience. (10%)
  • Manage paid partnership with Doximity to achieve program goals and optimize physician engagement with Duke content on the platform (5%)
  • Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
  • Experience working in journalism, marketing or business development is required.
  • Strong writing skills
  • Strong communication and presentation skills (written and verbal)
  • Understanding and ability to interface with content management systems, social media tools and other technologies 
  • Understanding of advertising and principles of marketing
  • Ability to analyze trends and articulate insights
  • Strong customer service skills
