The position will report to the Interim Controller and perform and assist in general ledger and operating fund reconciliations, operating & capital leases, bank reconciliations, accounting for the Catamount School and preparation of various financial schedules and reports as needed. Will assist in special financial projects as assigned and preparation of the University’s annual financial report. The candidate will be responsible for the University and Affiliated organizations debt service requirements. Under the direction of senior Controller’s office staff, position will perform compliance testing against defined University policies and procedures. Additionally, position is responsible for monitoring all endowment to assure timely postings of financial activity to the general ledger and expenditure of funds for the intended purposes. Will monitor funds and keep senior Controller’s office staff informed of availability of funds for investment. Position will serve as a liaison for auxiliary programs to external auditors and will work with and coordinate preparation of the annual financial reports with senior level Controller’s office staff. This position will serve as the liaison between the University grant office and the Controller’s office. This position will work the students accounts reconciling credit card charges, automated receipts process and student financial aid reconciliations. This position will be reviewing the Banner fund and account creates to determine the accuracy and completeness. Other duties/functions may be reassigned by senior management of the Controller’s office.

Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities Required for this Position

A knowledge of governmental accounting, including preparation of financial statements following GASB and FASB. A strong accounting background including experience in account reconciliations, and experience working with external auditors.

Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree with 12 credit hours of accounting coursework; or Associate’s degree in accounting; or Associate’s degree in business or related discipline with 12 credit hours of accounting coursework; or equivalent combination of training and experience. All degrees must be received from appropriately accredited institutions.

Preferred Qualifications

Experience in public higher education; Experience in the preparation of financial statements following GASB and FASB; experience with an enterprise system such as Banner.
