The Office of Information Technology provides central administrative and academic IT services to the University. OIT staff are committed to providing the best possible IT systems and services for the students, faculty and staff of NC State.

OIT Business Services provides financial and human resource management and support to all OIT employees.

Essential Job Duties

The primary purpose of this position is to be directly responsible for OIT’s daily accounting transactions. This includes reconciliation for approximately 100 projects; approving daily transactions that are entered into the financial system; overseeing and streamlining processes for accounts payable, accounts receivable; procurement; transactions in PCR; insurance; supervision of 4 employees; and forecasting for short and long-term financial objectives. OIT is a very dynamic organization that services campus with the latest technology, which changes daily and requires numerous financial transactions.

Minimum Experience/Education

Bachelor’s degree with 12 credit hours of accounting coursework; or Associate’s degree in Accounting; or Associate’s degree in Business or related discipline with 12 credit hours of accounting coursework; or equivalent combination of training and experience.
All degrees must be received from appropriately accredited institutions.

Departmental Required Skills

Thorough knowledge of accounting and auditing principles and practices including familiarity with basic accounting principles involving general ledger, journal entries, accounts receivable and accounts payable.

Ability to interpret and analyze accounting data and apply to institutional needs.

Ability to exercise judgment and discretion in interpreting administrative and managerial polices.

High degree of accuracy and independence.

Ability to communicate effectively orally and in writing.

Strong initiative and sense of responsibility, strong interpersonal and problem-solving skills.

Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment.

Proficient with personal computers including Word, Excel, e-mail, and Internet resources.

Preferred Experience, Skills, Training/Education

Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration, Public Administration, or related business area and two years of Administrative Management or Business Management Experience.
