This position serves on the Accounts Receivables team for Student Business Services, the office on campus responsible for the assessment and collection of tuition and other fees. Student Business Services processes student financial aid and refunds, invoices third parties for student accounts, serves as the University’s cashier, and collects monies on behalf of most campus offices. Student Business Services’ primary responsibility is ensuring that students and other customers receive accurate and timely financial information.Responsibilities The Accounting Associate provides administrative, accounting, and operational support for several financial processes related to maintaining accounts receivable at Florida State University.

The Accounting Associate Performs daily reconciliations of accounts receivable and facilitates corrections of transactions, supports reconciliation efforts as needed between Campus Solutions and external systems used by offices, like Transportation Services, Seminole Dining and the FSU Bookstore. This position is responsible for the responding to information requests and the maintenance of queries to proactively identify system inconsistencies. The position is responsible for compiling AR aging analysis and documentation of collection efforts.

The Accounting Associate provides assistance with the generation of monthly accounts receivable invoices, including printing, folding, and regenerating invoices as needed. The Accounting Associate supervises processing of returned mail and maintains updates of billing addresses and contact information of customers.

The Accounting Associate provides internal control functions by approving and processing accounts receivable charges and adjustments via group-post requests. In addition, this position reviews documentation for accuracy and sufficiency and reports errors and suspicious activity to help ensure that all transactions adhere to Generally Accepted Accounting Principles, State and Federal regulations, and University policy.

The Accounting Associate assists the Operations Team as needed by compiling data, assisting with customer service, producing meeting minutes, generating reports, filing, scanning, and cataloging information as assigned.Qualifications High school diploma/equivalency and four years of experience related to the duties of this position.

(Note: a combination of post high school education and experience equal to four years.)

Experience with compiling, reviewing, and reconciling data for accuracy, completeness, and compliance.

Excellent communication skills; ability to demonstrated effective customer service skills.

Knowledge of and ability to apply Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP).

Experience and ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships.Anticipated Salary Range Salary range: $28,000.00 commensurate with education and experience.Pay Plan This is an USPS (University Support Personnel System) position.Criminal Background Check This position requires successful completion of a criminal history background check.
