The Financial Aid Assistant serves as a support staff position providing support for the Office of Financial Aid in the areas of front desk/customer service, award letter mailings and correspondence, uploading and tracking of electronic financial aid materials, etc. This position reports to the Director of Financial Aid. This is a full-time, 12-month, non-exempt, benefits eligible position.

Job Duties:
• Maintain a level of knowledge regarding general aspects of University, federal and state financial aid programs.
• Answer front office phone calls in a courteous, responsive and efficient manner, while maintaining student and family confidentiality.
• Greet front office visitors and answer questions, receive and check documents, etc.
• Prepare financial aid award letter packets for incoming admitted students, work with Office of Admissions to prepare final joint mailing.
• Send electronic financial aid award letter notifications to returning students.
• Coordinate office mailings for current students.
• Upload financial aid application materials and documents into Ascend imaging system.
• Electronically notify students weekly that changes have been made to their financial aid packages.
• Send tracking letters, missing document letters.
• Assist the Coordinator of Office Operations in paying office bills.
• Track and order office keys for staff members through Office of Facilities.
• Assist the Coordinator of Student Loans with federal student loan entrance and exit interview process.
• Assist in updating office forms and completing work orders.
• Have ability to work in Bucknell’s Banner student records system, Ascend imaging system and various other reporting systems.
• Perform other duties as assigned by the Director of Financial Aid.

Minimum Qualifications:
- High School diploma
- Excellent oral and written communication skills
- Ability to efficiently and pleasantly handle high volume contacts
- Proficiency with desktop software applications such as Word and Excel

Preferred Qualifications:
- Prior experience in higher education
