Agnes Scott College invites applications, nominations and expressions of interest for the position of vice president for academic affairs and dean of the college. As chief academic officer, the vice president/dean is a key partner with the president and provides vision, leadership and direction while working closely with the faculty to maintain the quality and vitality of the academic program. Agnes Scott College seeks an experienced and collegial leader who will build on the college's many successes and further strengthen its position as a leading liberal arts college for women.

The vice president/dean will play a significant role on the leadership team of President Leocadia I. Zak, who joined the college in 2018 as its ninth president. President Zak's commitment to transparent leadership and shared governance has set the tone for a team that values collaboration and communication. The vice president/dean will ensure an ongoing commitment to the liberal arts and the continuing development of SUMMIT, the college's innovative signature experience, which prepares students to be global citizens and effective leaders. The vice president/dean will determine the ongoing scope and direction for graduate education and other strategic initiatives to extend educational opportunities to new audiences and to ensure appropriate growth for the college.

Candidates will be teacher-scholars (Ph.D. preferred) with academic achievements consistent with a tenured position on the Agnes Scott faculty. The successful candidate will have demonstrated the ability to communicate effectively with faculty and to articulate faculty and academic interests. In addition, this candidate will have a strong commitment to women’s education, a dedication to the promise of diversity and inclusive excellence that are deeply held values at the college and skills in leadership, entrepreneurial thinking, communication and administration.

Founded in 1889, Agnes Scott College is a highly selective, independent, national liberal arts college for women located in Decatur, Georgia, a vibrant city in metropolitan Atlanta. The college offers bachelor degrees in 34 majors supported by 31 minors, three dual-degree programs with neighboring Emory University and Georgia Institute of Technology and a growing set of post-baccalaureate and graduate programs. The college has 81 full-time faculty members of whom 68 percent are women and 23 percent are persons of color, a diverse population of 1040 students and an engaged network of alumnae around the country and the world.

Recently named the #1 most innovative liberal arts college by U.S. News & World Report, Agnes Scott also ranked first nationally for social mobility and second for best undergraduate teaching, distinctions in which the college takes great pride. The college climbed in its 2019 U.S. News ranking among national liberal arts colleges, advancing ten spots to #51, while remaining among the top 25 best value colleges. The Princeton Review named Agnes Scott #20 for best quality of life in its 2018 edition of Best 382 Colleges.
