Job Summary

The College of Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics at Eastern Washington University (EWU) invites applications for an Electrical Engineering Lecturer faculty position within the Department of Engineering & Design. The successful candidate will have expertise in embedded systems design and a strong desire to teach at an instructionally intensive undergraduate-focused institution. The expected start date is September 16, 2019.

We are seeking a candidate who will be an inspirational teacher, role model, and a student mentor with the ability to perform distance teaching when needed. EWU is one of the most culturally and economically diverse universities in the state of Washington and recently won a Higher Education Excellence in Diversity (HEED) Award. Approximately one-third of the students are multicultural and half are first generation to college. A demonstrated ability to apply a culturally responsive and flexible approach that is supportive to the diverse needs, including universal access, of our students, faculty, staff, and the public is required.

The successful candidate for the Lecturer in Electrical Engineering position will have earned a PhD or an MS in Electrical and Computer Engineering (ECE) or similar field by the appointment date. Candidates are expected to possess excellent communication skills and those with prior teaching experience are particularly encouraged to apply. Review the qualifications section below for a complete list of required and preferred qualifications.

Primary areas of responsibility include teaching and developing undergraduate courses in ECE and supervising Senior Capstone projects, including participation in industrial outreach in support of those capstone projects. All faculty are expected to engage in effective teaching and assessment of student learning for ABET accreditation.

Screening of applications will begin in late March; applications will be accepted until further notice. All materials will be held in strictest confidence; references will not be contacted until candidates have been notified.
