I. JOB OVERVIEW

Job Description Summary:

The Materials Management Assistant position is part of the Facilities Services team within the Division of Operations at the
George Washington University.

This position provides support to the university’s materials management function by maintaining inventory of goods and/or monitoring departmental inventory practices for compliance with policies and procedures. This role typically maintains inventory of items, receives surplus materials and determines future use, reports unauthorized storage areas, reviews practices and recommends cost saving measures to users, and provides periodic routine reports on activities to management. This position refers and recommends exceptions to supervisor for approval or rejection.

Reporting to the Supervisor of Materials Management, the Materials Management Assistant supports the Division’s Financial Services department.
The Materials Management Assistant will be responsible for the following duties:
- Maintains the DIT Software Maintenance dashboard as well as enters all purchased hardware, mobile devices, and software into ITSM Asset Management database.
- Performs physical audits of all DIT purchased assets at both the Foggy Bottom (Washington, DC) and Virginia Science & Technology (Ashburn, VA) campuses.
- Assists in the relocation of hardware within/between campuses for installation and help with project planning efforts as well as assist with e-cycling of out-of-life Division assets.
- Creates and processes purchase requisitions for Division staff using EASand IBUY.
- Performs other related duties as assigned. The omission of specific duties does not preclude the supervisor from assigning duties that are logically related to the position.

The position is based at GW’s Foggy Bottom campus but will require travel between GW’s Virginia Science & Technology Campus in Ashburn, VA once a week or at management’s discretion.

Minimum Qualifications:

Qualified candidates will hold a high school diploma/GED plus 1.5 years of relevant professional experience, or, a Bachelor’s degree or higher in a relevant area of study. Degree must be conferred by the start date of the position. Degree requirements may be substituted with an equivalent combination of education, training and experience.

Additional Required Licenses/Certifications/Posting Specific Minimum Qualifications: Preferred Qualifications:

Experience using computerized inventory management is preferred (ie., AssetWorks/Aim).

Experience using a Procurement Card reallocation system is preferred (ie., Concur).

Experience working with construction materials is preferred.
