Assistant Chief Information Security Officer

We are seeking an experienced, energetic, engaging and visionary leader to provide strategy, planning, team management, and hands-on responsibility as the Assistant CISO within a large team of IT security professionals in The Office of Information Technology (OIT). The mission of this team is to support the IT security needs of UC Irvine faculty, students, and staff and provide information technology leadership, services, and innovative solutions that promote research, education and community service goals of the University.

The Assistant CISO works under the direction of the CISO and serves in a key role in university leadership, working closely with senior administration, academic leaders, and the campus community. The Assistant CISO is an advocate for UC Irvine's information security needs and works carefully with the CISO and the OIT Security team on the development and delivery of a comprehensive information security strategy and program to optimize the security posture of the university. This position facilitates the development and implementation of a security program that leverages collaborations and campus-wide resources, facilitates information security governance, advises the CISO on security direction and resource investments, and designs appropriate policies to manage information security risks. The complexity of this position requires a leadership approach that is engaging, imaginative, and collaborative, with a sophisticated ability to work with other leaders to set the best balance between security strategies and other priorities at the campus level.

The position leads the development, implementation, and evaluation of campus-wide Risk Management Processes and policy.

The candidate must remain current on all legislation regarding information security. The work effort includes assisting the CISO with the development of the overall security program strategy, budget and expense management, outreach and communication, training, policies, tools that define the campus security program and risk analysis, and security team oversight and supervision. Candidate must be a proven team leader and team builder, and have experience facilitating strong and effective IT Security teams.

Salary: Commensurate with experience
Total Hours: 8-5, M-F
Career Position.
Irregular and weekend work hours may be required, as in a serious security incident.
Must possess a valid California Driver's License and participate in the DMV Pull Notice Program.
