The selected candidate will perform teaching and service activities in art education. The appointee will be expected to teach graduate-level art education courses, and do thesis work, when qualified.

The selected candidate will assume responsibilities as an instructor in an online Master’s program and will take a leading role in developing, enhancing, and teaching graduate course offerings through a VLE platform (Canvas). This will entail working closely with the Office of Distance Learning to ensure best practices in distance learning design and implementation, as well as working closely with recruitment staff at the College level to grow the enrollment of distance learning students.

Additional responsibilities include committee work, curriculum development, service to the university and community, and professional activities in art education that are consistent with departmental expectations.

The Department of Art Education maintains a strong commitment to the philosophy of art for life and especially social justice issues. It is the oldest department of its kind in the Southeast. The department offers master’s degrees in art education, arts administration, and art therapy and the doctorate in art education with specializations in art education, arts administration, art therapy, and museum education and visitor-centered exhibitions. The Department of Art Education is housed in the College of Fine Arts.
