Scope of Job:
Manages and develops the decision support tools and functions for the School of Medicine. This includes business planning, reporting and analytics solutions across the clinical, research, and education missions of the School of Medicine (SOM). Leads operational and management reporting and assessment through data and analytics, recommending resource allocations across the SOM, especially the clinical operations and focus of UT Health RGV.

Description of Duties:
• Supports the growth of the SOM by developing financial and performance models to assess potential new ventures and capital investment for the SOM practice plan, research enterprise, and education effort.
• Collaborates with senior leadership in developing vision, priorities and policies for the decision support environment.
• Develops and actualizes the reporting strategy for the SOM across the clinical, research, education, and administrative missions and their respective source systems.
• In conjunction with the SOM and UTRGV Information Systems groups, provides functional expertise in development of SOM Enterprise Data Warehouse (EDW).
• Develops short and long-range plans, conceptual designs, all budgetary responsibilities and documentation for assigned area.
• Tests and designs analytical methods and makes recommendations for their utilization.
• Develops and ensures adherence to reporting and dashboard standards.
• Administers performance reporting for the SOM, developing standard monthly reports tracking productivity across the SOM’s mission.
• Establishes appropriate mechanisms and goals to monitor project time lines and reporting.
• Serves as reporting lead for implementation of electronic medical record (EMR) system and ensures timely completion times.
• Ability to work with and understand large data systems and sets, working across multiple source system databases at one time.
• DSRIP program management in conjunction with Cope Health Solutions through DY10.
• Responsible for the roll-out of Clinical Profit & Loss activity reports by clinical site on a real-time/ongoing basis.
• Prepares and conducts research productivity metrics, and subsequent reports to all levels of the UT Health organization.
• Develops Faculty web application to view effort, MOAs, and productivity across missions.
• Manages functional aspects of UT Health RGV Enterprise Data Warehouse (Data cataloging, definitions, dashboard mock-ups, etc.).
• Performs targeted volume analysis across clinical sites to drive marketing efforts.
• On behalf of and in conjunction with Senior Associate Vice President, leads data reporting and business intelligence strategy for UT Health RGV.
• Performs other duties as assigned.

General supervision from assigned supervisor.

Supervision Given:
Direct supervision of assigned staff.

Required Education:
Bachelor’s Degree in Finance or related filed from an accredited university.

Preferred Education:
Master’s degree in Finance or a related field from an accredited university.

Licenses/Certifications:
None.

Required Experience:
Six (6) years of strong background experience required in analytics and working with large quantitative and qualitative data sets. Development of business plan experience required, including but not limited to ROI analysis, payback period, scenario planning, etc. Experience in an academic medical center, specifically in support of a faculty practice plan.

Use of standard office equipment. Advance Microsoft excel skills.

Working Conditions:
Needs to be able to successfully perform all required duties. Office Environment; some travel and weekend work is required. Exerting up to 10 pounds of force occasionally, and/or a negligible amount of force frequently or constantly to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects, including the human body.

The University of Texas Rio Grande Valley was created by the Texas Legislature in 2013 in a historic move that brings together the resources and assets of UT Brownsville and UT Pan American and, for the first time, makes it possible for residents of the Rio Grande Valley to benefit from the Permanent University Fund—a public endowment contributing support to the University of Texas System and the Texas A&M University System.

 

Our new university will also be home to a School of Medicine and will transform Texas and the nation by becoming a leader in student success, teaching, research, and health care. UTRGV will enroll its first class in the fall of 2015, and the School of Medicine will open in 2016.

 

UT Brownsville and UT Pan American

The shared history of The University of Texas Pan American and The University of Texas at Brownsville goes back to 1927, when Edinburg College was founded. In 1973, Pan American opened a second campus in Brownsville, which later became an independent institution of The University of Texas System in 1991. Over the years, the missions and the identities of these great institutions have continually evolved to serve the communities of the Rio Grande Valley.

Now, the evolution and connection between these two institutions is coming full circle as UT Brownsville and UT Pan American are being established as a single, new university and medical school, with a single, new identity—The University of Texas Rio Grande Valley.
