Assistant/Associate Professor of Educational Leadership

The Department of Counseling, Leadership, and Educational Studies at Winthrop University is seeking an innovative and involved tenure-track assistant/associate professor to teach and coordinate an established M.Ed. Educational Leadership program and assist with a new Ed.S. in the Educational Leadership program. We seek a candidate who will be an exemplary leader, teacher, scholar, and active participant in the college, on campus, and with community partners.

Position Availability: August 12, 2019

Major Responsibilities:

  • Teach courses in the Educational Leadership program
  • Serve as a productive faculty member in all areas of university expectations (student intellectual development, scholarly activity, professional stewardship, and academic responsibility)
  • Provide leadership as a program director for the M.Ed. and Ed.S. programs, providing vision for program initiatives, curriculum development, and accreditation, and also support the Ed.S. program
  • Facilitate cohort development, including recruitment and selection processes
  • Supervise students in administrative internship experiences in local schools
  • Assist in identifying and guiding the work of adjunct faculty for the program
  • Advise and mentor graduate students
  • Provide and engage in collaborative activities with P-12 schools, school districts, and agency partners in support of program quality and school improvement, with a focus on high-needs schools
  • Use technology to enhance student learning, increase access, maintain program data, and facilitate recruitment and retention efforts
  • Serve on university, college, and departmental committees
  • Actively participate in state and national organizations
  • Engage in teaching and other program-related activities in the evenings, summers, online, and occasionally weekends, as needed

Required Qualifications:

  • Doctorate in Educational Leadership or Educational Administration
  • Successful administrative leadership experience in P-12 education
  • Current knowledge of K-12 issues, trends, and innovative practices
  • Demonstrated management and organizational skills necessary to meet reporting and accreditation related expectations
  • Evidence of developed and sustained collaborative relationships with educational partners
  • Demonstrated experience in curricular and instructional leadership with high-needs schools/districts
  • Ability to work collaboratively with departmental members in maintaining and strengthening the educational leadership program
  • Successful record of scholarship commensurate with rank

Desired Qualifications:

  • Successful experience in higher education
  • Ability to teach MEd and/or EdS educational research Methods courses
  • Successful administrative leadership experience at the Associate and/or Superintendent level
  • Demonstrated experience with NELP accreditation
  • Expertise in educational research, including quantitative research methodology
  • Demonstrated ability in the use of technology and digital tools for instructional purposes

Employment Conditions:
Position is full-time, nine-month, tenure-track with the expectation of summer teaching. Salary is commensurate with qualifications.
