The Department of Elementary Education seeks applicants for a tenure track faculty position.

The position will be responsible for teaching courses at the undergraduate and graduate level; supervising teacher candidates in Elementary Education; mentoring Elementary Education candidates; conducting a research agenda that includes publications, presentations, and grant writing; and providing service to the University, College, Department, Profession, and public schools in the region.

Required Qualifications

A doctorate from an accredited institution in early childhood education, elementary education, math education, or science education, or other closely related field with at least a master’s in education degree in early childhood or elementary education by appointment date; demonstrated potential for scholarship and service activities; at least three years of P-5 teaching experience teaching math and/or science; knowledge of personalized learning approaches and innovative trends in post-secondary teaching and learning; experience with online programs; experience using data-based decision making strategies; evidence of the creative use of technology in the curriculum; and knowledge of P-5 science and mathematics methods and current elementary STEM/STEAM initiatives. Candidates must have a demonstrated commitment to excellence in teaching and learning, as well as scholarship and commitment to diversity and inclusion.

Preferred Qualifications

Successful college level teaching experience in early childhood or elementary education; experience in competency-based education; experience preparing candidates for edTPA and/or other performance-based assessments.

Position Full-Time/Part-Time Standard Hours 40 Compliance Requirements

Position Requires completion of VSU’s Annual Compliance Training course (such as State Business Transactions, Drug Free Workplace, Anti-Harassment Policy, Introduction to Information Security, Workers Compensation, Motor Vehicle Policy, USG Ethics Policy, Conflict of Interest/ Outside Activities Policy, Leave Procedures for Faculty and Staff, Georgia Open Records Act, Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA), and Contracts 101. Supervisory positions require training in FMLA and Worker’s Compensation.

Position Requires a Criminal Background Check.

Position May Require Credit Check (if using P-Card, working with Cash, etc.).
