Job Details

The Josef Korbel School of International Studies at the University of Denver is an interdisciplinary professional school of international studies that prepares students for careers in the public, private and nonprofit sectors. Our program provides students with the knowledge, skills and networks to design policies, implement programs, and realize outcomes that enhance human capabilities around the world.

Essential Functions

  • Teach a total of 6 graduate courses over 3 quarters (Fall, Winter and Spring) in 2020/21
  • 3 courses on methods and operations
  • 2 courses will be on field-relevant topics
  • One of the six courses would be course equivalent for administering HAARG over three quarters and assisting with the Humanitarian Assistance simulation exercise in Spring

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • Extensive professional and/or academic experience with community-based research methods and program operations/evaluation/MEAL in global health and humanitarian assistance.
  • Experience working in or on international humanitarian assistance
  • Direct experience living and working in a lower income country/s
  • Knowledge of systems, actors, best practices and standards in the field of international humanitarian assistance
  • Knowledge of current topics relevant to global health and international humanitarian aid
  • Clear ability to successfully teach research methods and health/humanitarian assistance applications to graduate student population.

Required Qualifications

  • Master's degree in a relevant professional/academic field.
  • Professional and/or academic experience with community-based research, program evaluation and MEAL techniques associated with addressing current global, international, or national questions relevant to the fields of global health and humanitarian assistance.
  • Evidence of potential for high-quality teaching across diverse student populations.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Ph.D., Dr.P.H. or J.D. in a relevant professional/academic field.
  • Documented teaching success at the graduate and/or undergraduate level or documented success in delivering professional training
  • Professional experience working for or closely with relevant governmental, intergovernmental or private sector actors in the humanitarian and global health fields
  • Professional experience in crisis affected settings.
