The World’s First Business School

JOSEPH WHARTON, FOUNDER
In 1881, American entrepreneur and industrialist Joseph Wharton established the world’s first collegiate school of business at the University of Pennsylvania.

Wharton’s pioneering vision was to produce graduates who would become ‘pillars of the state, whether in private or in public life.’ The Wharton School maintains a long tradition of educating visionary business leaders in academia, business, government, and not-for-profit organizations.

Duties

Plan, design, enforce, and audit security policies and procedures which safeguard the integrity of and access to Wharton systems and services. Manage security improvement projects; maintain knowledge of changing information security threats and technologies; provide recommendations for adaptation of new technologies, procedures, or policies; investigate security incidents; document incidents and respond to security requests using support ticketing system; perform computer forensics studies and maintain incident tracking records. Prepare status reports on security matters; develop security risk analyses; keep management informed of risks and critical issues that might affect clients or school security objectives. Develop, implement, and deploy client-focused security measures; participate in school endpoint computing management projects and evaluations. Work with other school IT staff to gain awareness of their issues and promote security initiatives to other IT staff. Work closely and successfully on security incident response and other projects with various school and university constituents including end users, technical colleagues, and information security professionals.

Qualifications

Band B: Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or other related field and a minimum of one year of IT work, preferably in Information Security, or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Technical expertise in systems administration and the development and implementation of new security tools. A solid understanding of TCP/IP, computer forensics and investigative methodology. Demonstrated excellent verbal and written communication, interpersonal and project management skills and the ability to deal confidentially with people at all levels of the organization. Must be able to work independently and as part of a team and effectively collaborate with others. Ability and desire to respond to critical incidents during traditional non-business hours will be required.

Sr./Band D: Same as above, with a minimum of three years relevant IT work, at least two of which are in Information Security in an academic setting; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Strong knowledge of current Information Security frameworks and standards.
