The UNC Eshelman School of Pharmacy is seeking a permanent, full time Research Assistant Professor. The position will have an academic appointment in the division of Pharmacoengineering and Molecular Pharmaceutics. The focus of this position is to further develop PRINT particles, 3D printed devices, and microneedle patches, for vaccine and drug delivery applications. Research will include investigating novel polymer formulations, bioresponsive crosslinkers, and biological cargos. Extensive experience must be demonstrated for the incorporation of biological cargos into biocompatible materials and strong experience with various bioconjugation techniques. The candidate must have a Ph.D. in Biomedical Engineering and have a proven track record of working with students, postdocs, scientists, and oncologists. The candidate must have extensive experience with PRINT nanoparticle fabrication as well as CLIP 3D printing, and strong experience with nanoparticle characterization techniques: DLS, TGA, SEM, AFM, Nanosight, HPLC, etc. Animal handling, designing and executing studies in murine models to evaluate translational potential of engineered drug delivery systems, live animal imaging is a must.

Educational Requirements

Ph.D. in Biomedical Engineering.

Qualifications and Experience

- The candidate must have over five years of experience as a Research Associate or Research Scientist in an academic lab and will be expected to direct an independent research program, compete for extramural and intramural funding.
- Possess excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to collaborate effectively with basic researchers and clinical investigators.
- The selected candidates will also be expected to participate in the instruction of pharmacy graduate students.
